Stock shortages - since the lockdown we have been having difficulties getting stock. Some factories have closed and others are operating on reduced hours. Shipping is also affected. Where possible we have sourced alternative products.

Magic Slate

This has long been a favourite of children. Write or draw on the slate, and then pull the tab and it is erased. Supplied with plastic "pencil". This is an inexpensive toy that will provide a lot of fun. This version has a wizard theme although designs may vary.

The origins of this toy date back to the 1920s when the patent was first filed in the USA by RA Watkins, an Illinois printer. He had bought the idea from another man. It works like this. A waxed piece of card is covered with a piece of clear plastic. Impressions made with a blunt instrument on the plastic cause it to "stick" to the wax, creating a darker appearance. When a piece of card is inserted between the two layers it "unsticks" the plastic and restores the slate to the original condition.

Size 18 x 13cm, 7 x 5 inches

This toy is from another historical period
