Life on a farm before the advent of tractors relied on horsedrawn equipment and the skills and labour of many people. 43 ready-to-be-coloured drawings set the scene of 19th century farm life, and although this is an American book the rural activities are not that dissimilar from those in the UK and include butter making, apple pressing, the water pump and sheep shearing. A short text accompanies each picture.
